Art, for me, is a gift – an opportunity to pause, reflect, and appreciate life more deeply. It doesn’t require explanation or labels; it simply exists. When someone connects with one of my paintings, there is a shared moment of recognition and exchange – a gift given, and a gift received.

As a Canadian artist and painter, my work has evolved from exploring popular culture and national stereotypes to delving into the deeper layers of the Canadian collective consciousness. Over the years, this journey has taken me across Canada, from its iconic cities to its most remote landscapes, where I immerse myself in local culture and daily life. These experiences inform my art, allowing me to reflect on what it means to be Canadian through a unique and personal lens.

Returning home to Vancouver Island after each journey offers renewed insight into my own cultural roots, grounding my practice and fueling new work. Primarily working in acrylic and oil on canvas, my artistic practice has expanded over time to include collage, photography, writing, and video, enriching the narrative depth of my paintings.

My artwork explores themes of Canadian popular culture, symbolism, and landscape – brought to life through bold colour palettes and a distinctive pop modernism style. While some describe my work as visual storytelling, I see each painting as an open invitation for the viewer to bring their own stories, interpretations, and memories to the canvas.

Art, for me, is a gift – an opportunity to pause, reflect, and appreciate life more deeply. It doesn’t require explanation or labels; it simply exists. When someone connects with one of my paintings, there is a shared moment of recognition and exchange – a gift given, and a gift received.
