Biography
Lydia Panart is an award- winning artist born in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
Inspired by the beauty of its European-influenced architecture, she studied at the National
University of Buenos Aires, and graduated as an architect in 1991. Following her architectural
practice, she developed her artistic career under the mentorship of Master Artist Kenneth
Kemble, who brought to the Argentinean art scene the international movement known as
Informalism. Her background and interest in Semiotics contributed to the progression of her
painting from figurative to abstracted representations.
Lydia is known for her thought-provoking abstract artworks created primarily with acrylics,
which have been exhibited nationally and internationally including invitations to Biennales
and Art Symposia.
Through her works, she reflects upon human essence, her inner-self, and her core values.
Timothy Warrington, International Confederation of Art Critiques, London, UK, wrote:
“Philosophically speaking, this Canadian artist emphasizes the meditative, intellectual and
meaningful result of her compositions, focusing on a conceptual implication, albeit exquisitely emotional…”
As a passionate educator, Lydia has promoted the arts at many institutions including The
McMichael Canadian Art Collection, the Art Gallery of Ontario, the Burlington Arts Centre,
the Living Arts Centre, Visual Arts Mississauga and the Avenue Road Arts School. As a
supporter of the importance of fostering creativity and well-being, she also enjoys working
with a variety of schools and corporations facilitating co-creating workshops.
Lydia has been the recipient of grants from the Ontario Arts Council and the City of
Mississauga for several community art projects, as well as invited by the city of Mississauga
as a juror for Public Art.
