Julia Mori - Artist Statement:
The mirror ball itself reflects another era where we were filled up with the love of friendship and family but during Covid, the mirror balls reflects back a metaphor of our isolation from that love, each pain of glass another self defined bubble , it’s a commentary on where we are now, on what we have experienced. The ‘map’ globe is the final evolution of these works, the world has reopened, we move out of our bubbles and reacquaint ourselves with optimism.
In the greatest tradition of abstract art we question ourselves, and we question what that means. This body of work is an observation of contemporary society and its most recent organic evolutions.
Each viewer will brings something different, their own filters to see through , and isn’t that what contemporary art is about, it’s not complete until the viewer experiences it.
Helen Griffiths - Artist Statement:
Over the past few years I have become an avid bird watcher. I have created an extensive photo reference library and am constantly adding to it. Some paintings are inspired by the position or character of a bird, but most paintings start with an idea. I'll set up a still life and maybe add a bird or other character to complete the story I am trying to convey.
