Having learned traditional Chinese painting, I incorporate elements that depict nature, whether it be mountains and water or flowers and birds. All of these serve as expressions of nature and reflections on life, conveying emotions and showcasing vibrant vitality.

Wei Yan was born in Beijing, China, in the late 60s. He graduated from Capital Normal
University in Beijing, earning a BA degree in the Fine Art Department. After relocating to
Canada, he furthered his studies at Seneca College and subsequently devoted himself
full-time to being an artist and an art teacher.


Wei Yan has participated in numerous solo exhibitions and juried group shows, showcasing
his work in professional art galleries and museums across Canada, the United States,
Europe, and China. Throughout his artistic journey, he has been honored with various art
awards. Notably, his artworks have found a place in the collections of three museums in
China and America.


As a member of the Oil Painters of America, Wei Yan has also been elected Vice Chairman
of the Overseas Chinese Artists Association. Currently, he resides and works in Oakville,
Ontario, Canada.
