Kalie Graves

love that loose, painterly style,” she enthuses. “I do appreciate super-fine realism, but I don't want to be that tight in my paintings. I love a style that's a mix of both.”

Kalie Graves is an oil painter living in Idaho Falls, Idaho. Overrun in a household full of boys (husband Spencer, boys Henry and Russell, Bill the dog, and Franklin the nude Sphynx) I’m living a wonderful busy life.
What’s the draw to painting you may ask? It’s a maddening profession, but I cannot stay away from it. It pulls me into a whirl of many emotions; excitement, frustration, vulnerability, satisfaction… It’s quite a silly game I play. But after setting the brush down and stepping back from the canvas, whatever emotion I’m feeling,… I’m grateful for it. It means I’m alive and doing what I want to do; creating! Of course I prefer the good feelings over the maddening ones, but that’s the path of an artist. It’s the path I’m sticking with.
